Helping the Homeless-Pathways to HousingPA

Pathways to HousingPA

When looking at a homeless person in the street, what comes to mind is “oh my, that person must not want to work or must be lazy”, when the reality is, that person is probably dealing with a mental illness that has caused them to become homeless.

In order for these people to be able to grow and “get better”, they must feel safe and secure.  FamilyAffaires.com Contributor, Dr. Dan Gottlieb talks with FamilyAffaires.com Community Advocate, Roseann Vanella about the issue of homelessness and how the Pathways to HousingPA model of providing the homeless with a home first is really the only way we can help this population.

Some may think, why would we give homes to the homeless before they are cured?  As Dr. Gottlieb states, “where there is judgement, there is no growth” and “reach out you hand, instead of pointing fingers”.  As a society we must come together and help those in need and understand issues behind their circumstances.

Pathways to HousingPA is a wonderful organization.  Please support them in their upcoming fundraiser on November 18th, if you can’t be there in person please donate to help this wonderful cause that FamilyAffaires.com supports.
